RuKa JUDO Dobřany

The way of gentleness begins within.

A judo club in the heart of the Pilsen region. Since 2017 we guide children, juniors, and adults along the path of Japanese tradition — discipline, respect, growth.

Philosophy

„Best use of energy"

— Jigoro Kano 1860–1938 · Founder of judo

Club values

Four pillars we stand on.

Jin

01

Benevolence

We help one another. The younger learn from the older; the older care for the younger. The club is family.

Gi

02

Righteousness

We compete fairly. Victory and defeat carry equal weight — each teaches us something.

Rei

03

Respect

We bow before our opponent and before the tatami. Respect for others begins with respect for oneself.

04

The Way

Judo is not a destination — it is a way. Each training is a step, regardless of age, belt, or medals.

Groups

For every age and level.

Choose a group based on the child's age. If unsure, reach out — we'll gladly help.

OUR HISTORY

Nine years of the way.

From self-defence courses at the Mother Centre to three national medals. Key milestones of RuKa JUDO.

  1. Karel teaches self-defence at MC Budulínek

Before the club existed, Karel Fojtík ran self-defence courses at the Budulínek Mother Centre in Dobřany — for children and adults. The first regular judo-related activity of Karel in Dobřany.

  2. Krpálek's Rio gold — inspiration

Lukáš Krpálek's Olympic gold in Rio sparked a wave of interest in judo — a sport nobody in Dobřany had been doing systematically. Karel, together with Pavla Adamcová and Rudolf Kortus, decided to start the club.

  3. RuKa JUDO z.s. is registered

The Regional Court in Pilsen registers the association under file no. L 7986. The board: Pavla Adamcová (chair), Karel Fojtík + Rudolf Kortus (members). The name „RuKa" combines Rudolf + Karel.

  4. 74 members by year-end

Karel Fojtík in a dedicated article in Dobřanské listy: 52 children + 22 adults. The first publicly disclosed membership number.

  5. Move to a permanent dojo

Sokolovská 1010, opposite Káčko cinema. End of borrowing gyms around town. Our own tatami, our own rhythm, our own place.

  6. Crossing 100 members

The club crosses the three-digit membership mark and earns roughly 48 medals per season at regional and district tournaments.

  7. Filip Hančík + Šimon Voller — Czech U18 championships

Both club representatives bring home medals from the Czech Championships for younger and older youth in Jablonec nad Nisou. The club establishes itself on the national stage.

  8. Šimon Voller — Adler Cup Frankfurt

International Adler Cup in Frankfurt, 39 nations. Club representative in a European context.

  9. Filip Hančík — bronze at U18 Czech Championships, Brno

Bronze medal at the U18 Czech Championships in Brno, +90 kg category. The club's most significant national medal — proof that nine years of work translates into top-level results.

Thank you to our partners.

Nine years would not have been possible without them. The Town of Dobřany, the Pilsen Region, and local companies support us materially, financially, and personally — and we are grateful.
